Official Report
Veteran Chorley AC runners were in abundance on the rain swept fells of Scout Moor for the annual 4 mile Waugh'w Well Fell Race.
First back for the club was Dave Kershaw, who's superior fell descending speed beat Simon Townsend for 46 and 47th place respectively in times well under 43 minutes.
Only 2 minutes behind came V45 Paul Wareing, followed 8 minutes later by V60 Henry Minorcyzk leading home Barry Chester, Steve Wilde, Phil McCullagh, Mike Coppin and Les Paul.
Race Overview
The race is based on Scout Moor (the big hill with lots of wind turbines), and is a long 4 miles. The ascent and descent is steep, causing some walking and scrambling.
The top is flat and boggy. The hill is ascended twice, so save some energy after the first ascent. Parking is someway form the start, but there is plenty of it and toilets are provided.
This year's race was in wind and rain, but nevertheless was VERY enjoyable and one that I will do again.
