Presentations
The South East Lancs. Cross Country presentations for 2008/09 season saw an excellent prize winner for Chorley in Luke Betts who finished first in the U15s. However it could have been so much better as it was a frustrating experience for Sean Wareing in the U20s with two first places but unable to complete due to injury and also Tom Booth in the U17s who could of snatched a medal if persistent injuries had not robbed him of finishes. However 17 athletes ran for CAC with 7 completing the series with 5th Ryan Sciacca(U15s), 5th Les Paul(Vet 60), 6th Mike Coppin(Vet 60), 14th Paul Wareing (Vet 40), 20th David Taylor(Vet 40), 21st Michael Murray(Vet 50).

The first of the South East Lancs Cross Country races for the 2008/09 season was run at Clayton Vale Country Park in Manchester on a course not seen by any of us before. A smaller Chorley AC contingent of athletes than usual managed to come away with some successes such as Luke Betts brilliant 2nd place in the U15s and Henry Minorczyk, Les Paul and Mike Coppin being the first vet 60 team.
Lucy Croston gave us a good start with 8th place(13:50) in the U13s. Luke might have won his race if he had gone for his finish slightly earlier but was just beaten into 2nd (13:32) supported by Michael Murray Jnr in 18th(17:06). Tom Booth had another bad afternoon in the U17s where a twisted ankle ended his race. It was a great welcome back to young Sean Wareing who finished 50th(43:55) just four places in front of father Paul in 54th(44:05). Roy Paul was 63rd(44:51) ahead of David Taylor 86th(48:10). Henry Minorczyk 104th(52:41) was followed by Michael Murray 112th(55:38), Les Paul 115th(64:25) and Mike Coppin 116th(71:17).
Sean Wareing was 2nd junior man and Henry Minorczyk was 3rd vet 60. Chorley AC were the 12th team overall with the vets amassing two teams in 13th and 21st with the vet 50s 6th and the vet 60s 1st.

Heaton Park, Manchester was the final race venue of the 2008/09 East Lancs. Cross-Country league; a lovely course with little mud but a biting blustery wind!
Rhiann Beaumont , coming back from injury, started proceedings of for the club for with a good 10th(18:37) in the U13s .
In the U15s, leader Luke Betts felt unwell and had to drop out which spurred Ryan Sciacca on to take a superb 3rd(14:33). A further problem occurred for poor Tom Booth who has had more than his fair share of injuries this season pulling his Achilles and pulling up.
The senior men ran to form with Roy Paul sprinting in at 44th(43:37) just taking Paul Wareing 46th(43:50) and an improving Dave Taylor 52nd(45:20). Michael Murray came home in 81st(52:12) just in front of the vet 60 team of Barry Chester 87th(54:30), Les Paul 90th(65:25) and Mike Coppin 91st(67:35).
Chorley finished 8th team overall, 8th & 16th vet40 teams, 5th vet50 team and 2nd vet60. Ryan Sciacca had the best individual race of the day in 3rd just outshining Roy Paul as 7th vet50.
