Race Report
The 22nd running of the two very popular multi terrain events at Abbey Village, near Chorley once again produced some really memorable moments.
For once there was no customary blizzard or icy conditions and both races took place under calm skies, but with an easterly biting wind.
The Roddlesworth Roller, 6 miles approx multi terrain race for seniors, saw Horwich dominate the team event were their veterans completely outshone their junior counterparts coming 2nd, 3rd,4th and 5th!
It was a mere youngster Alistair Russell of Kendal AC who outpaced his seniors to win in 31 mins 59 secs, but it was the Horwich team who dominated throughout.
2nd home was veteran 50 Paul Muller, Horwich who particularly likes this kind of courses leading the Horwich pack. Rob Jackson (34:10) vet 40, Steve Nolan (34:33) vet 40 and Graham Schofield (35:24) vet 50 all produced a sparkling display.
In the female race Beckie Taylor (FJ), Blackburn Harriers produced an excellent performance to clock 40:09 nearly 1 minute ahead of Dawn Atkins of Chorley Harriers in second place. Third home was Pamela Thurtle of Liverpool Club, Penny Lane Striders came home in 41:32.
Local Chorley interest saw Phil Iddon, Chorley Harriers lead his club home in 36:50 and Paul Wareing vet 45, lead the Chorley AC team home in 39:33.
Not surprisingly Horwich won the team event with Penny Lane Striders second, and Chorley Harriers third.

In the hotly contested 2 mile Daffodil Doddle multi terrain race, Ribble Valley's Reece Clark edged ahead of the Chorley AC contingent to claim first prize in 10 mins 21 secs followed closely by brothers Ryan and Adam Sciacca , Chorley AC finishing in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Chorley Athletic Club dominated the race to secure first team finishing on 9 points with the Sciacca brothers closely followed by team mate Fergus Tallon to secure the coveted title!
11 year old Elizabeth Greenwood, Blackburn Harriers finished first female followed by Ribble Valley's duo of Sabrina Walley and Helen Wallis.
Parklands High School, Chorley took first Lancashire Secondary team with Ryan and Adam Sciacca having Chorley AC team mate Ben Ramsay to complete their squad.
