The weather was kind to this year’s Roddlesworth Roller, and with an entry of 263, the runners turned out in force to tackle one of the toughest races in the area.

Tom Cornthwaite (Blackburn Harriers) blitzed the field to finish in 30 mins 51 secs, over 1.5 minutes ahead of Paul Freary (Horwich).

Darren Kay (Horwich) finished third in 33 mins 31 secs. Mark Aspinall (Clayton) finished 5th overall and first veteran with an excellent run (33:58). John Sutton (Chorley Harriers) was fist local Chorley Athlete home.

Ken Moss (Northern Vets) formerly of Chorley AC stormed to the vet 55 title in 35:27.

In the women’s race Jennifer Smith (Warrington AC) produced an excellent run to finish 24th overall and first female in 37 mins 41 secs. Second and third home respectively were Maria Lowe (Salford Harriers) 39:41, and Donna Cartwright (Radcliffe AC) 40:53.

The first team prize went to the trio of Horwich; Freary, Kay and Heyes, with Middleton Harriers second. First female team Clayton secured their title through the trio of Kelly, Wilson and Pratt.

The vets team prize went to Horwich; Jackson, Nolan and Gaskell. Chorley AC vets took local team honours through Simon Townsend, Stephe Fletcher and Roy Paul.

20th 2 Mile Daffodil Doddle Multi terrain race.

The junior race saw a maximum capacity field of 200 tackle the tough two mile course.

First home from Ribble Valley AC, Joe Basquill clocked 10 mins 13 secs, with fellow club mate Leigh Lennon securing her 6th female title in 11 mins 27 secs. Needless to say the team prize went to Ribble Valley AC.

Chorley AC’s Luke Betts produced a strong run to finish 9th overall and help Parklands High School, Chorley secure the first Lancashire High School title.

First primary team All Saints Primary, Clayton Le Moors just pipped Abbey Village to the team prize. First Abbey Village boy and girl were: Sam Jones and Emily Smith.
