Roddlesworth Roller
In what was hopefully described as summer, the re-arranged 17th Biffa Roddlesworth Roller Multi terrain race set of in high winds and the occasional rain shower.

The course record holder of the 6 mile event from 2005, Neil Tattersall, Pendle cantered home without any real pressure in 33 mins 6secs.

Former winner Rob Jackson Vet 40, Horwich came home in second place almost 90 sec behind.

An outstanding run was had by vet 50 Graham Schofield, Horwich who finished third in 35 mins 10 secs.

First female was ex international vet 50 Vanessa Peacock, Clayton who absolutely dominated the female race over this distance finsihing 24th overall in 41 minutes exactly.

Second home was another vet joanne Taylor, Helm Hill Runners, with Alison Hamlett, Runners World another place behind in 44 mins 7 secs.

A strong contingent from Liverpool's Penny Lane Striders saw them take the first team home thanks to Neil Kelly, Tony Man and Mike McCabe and the local Chorley Athletic Club team of Stephe Fletcher,Simon Townsend, and Dave Taylor providing a strong challenge for local pride coming first Chorley team home.

The Horwich senior men came first vet team with Rob Jackson, Graham Schofiled and Tony Hesketh triumphing over Blackburn Harriers team of Gary Pearse, Evan Cook and Richard Taylor.

Darwen Dashers took the female team title, but were pushed all the way by Chorley AC's team of Emma Perrin, Michelle Devine and Kath Becker.

Doddle
In the fast but furious 2 mile multi terrain race with a very nasty hill at the half way stage the event was dominated by a very strong Hyndburn team. Nathan Riding, M16 took first home in 10 mins 14 secs, followed by clubmates Robbie Schofield, and Joe Basquill. It was a close call though with Chorley AC's Andrew Holmes and Josh Metters closing in on the top three.

Leigh Lennon F15 also of Hyndburn, claimed the female trophy in 11 mins 36 secs but was shadowed all the way by Blackburn Harriers duo of Beckie and Melanie Taylor. Anya Townsend(F9) ran a new PB and was the first female Chorley Athletic Club runner home.

First UKA Club team home was not unsurprisingly Hyndburn, with St. Augustine's taking first Lancashire Secondary School,team.

Highlawn Primary of Bolton took first local Primary School team.

Abbey Villages' trio of Charly Woodhead, Emily Smith and Patrick Hughes finishes points behind but took their team prize.Charly and Emily won their respective school prizes as well.

The organisers Abbey Village Parent's Association would like to thank the local Police, RAYNET, John Schofield, British Red Cross ,United Utilities, local press,parents, marshals for their support.
