The first Sweatshop Park Series race(5K) of 2011 organised by Chorley AC saw a win by Chorley based local James Kevan(16:35) of Horwich finishing just ahead of Andy Buttery(16:57) of Rossendale. Third home was host club junior male Luke Betts(17:09) in finishing 3rd & 1st under 21. Adam Sciacca was well placed in the first six but faded slightly at the end to finish 10th after being passed by clubmate Michael Chalfont in 7th. Louisa Thompson(u/a) was the first lady with an exceptional run in 8th place overall a good distance ahead of first female junior Beckie Taylor(21st) of Blackburn Harriers. On the local front Chorley Harriers Phil Iddon was 13th and junior Leah Nelson(38th) had a marvellous run for 6th female place with Chorley Harrier Daryl Peter(50th) being the first FV50. Chorley AC had Dave Taylor(28th), Ben Ramsay(31st) and a returning Carl Holding(32nd). Steven Wilde was 47th as 2nd V55 keeping ahead of 1st V70 John Minton(55th) who was a step in front of Phil McCullagh(56th). Paul Cunliffe(60th) beat Tom Hilton(61st) whose number of Easter races finally got the better of him one of which was the Fleetwood(10) where he was 101st(101:12) and 4th V60.
The junior race was won in fine style by Chorley AC's Fergus Tallon(5:33) with talented Blackburn athlete Elizabeth Greenwood(5:50) chasing hard to secure 2nd place. Chorley Harriers contributed well with Joseph Monk(6th), Emma Plant(10th) 1st G13, Fionnuala Hart(16th), brother Lorcan(20th), Adam Cooper(22nd), William Sarson(24th), Meghan Adamson(26th), Caitlin McCarrick(27th), Jessica Cockayne-Grundy(31st), Rachel Mallinson(32nd) and Lydia Cockayne-Grundy(38th) 1st G8. Chorley AC juniors ran well with a number of age group first places in their own race with an excellent run from Danny Betts in 4th place, Anya Townsend(15th) 1st G15, Scott Gouldthorpe(17th) 1st B8, Lewis Tiley(19th), Dominic Gouldthorpe(21st), Harry Collins(29th) 1st B9, Josh Gibbons(30th), Denholm Biddell(34th) 1st B7, Chloe Doherty(36th), Meghan Gouldthorpe(37th), Teddy Henry(39th), Ben Doherty(41st), Ashden Biddell(42nd) 1st B5, Eleanor Lucas(43rd) and Holly Gibbons(44th). Horwich RMI just edged ahead of Chorley AC in the senior race team with Blackburn Harriers similarly beating CAC in the junior race.

The second of Chorley Athletic Club's Sweatshop Park Series took place on Friday with the inevitable summer downpour but that didn't stop an elite turnout of runners. In the Senior Race over 3+ miles in Astley Park, Chorley; race International Matt Moorhouse of Salford Harriers clocked 17 mins to lead the field home with Leigh Harrier Tony Battersby finishing closely behind with a 20 secs gap. Interestingly third home and visiting his family from the USA was Richard Smith, son of former Chorley Mayor Iris Smith and husband Jim from Brinscall clocking an impressive 17:41.
First Chorley runner home was Mike Chalfont Vet 40 of Chorley AC with a time of 18:44 for the tough muli terrain course. Clayton Le Moor Harrier Vet 45 Anna Kelly had a fine run to lead home the female contingent in 21:01 with Chorley based Horwich Harrier Emma Perrin securing 2nd spot in 22:14. Emma Collings of Atherton Running Club clocked 24:48 to take 3rd.
In the hotly contested 1 mile multi terrain race Chorley AC's Fergus Tallon produced a dominant run to finish well ahead of the field in 5:37. Blackburn Harrier Elizabeth Greenwood showed her class as one of the rising stars of Athletics to come home 2nd in 5:51 well ahead of Southport and Waterloo's Lauren Deane (6:37). Chorley Harrier Emma Plant secured third place in 6:48. Chorley AC had a good all round team performance with Danny Betts producing an excellent time of 6:33 to come second team member home!

On a perfect evening for racing the final races in this year's Sweatshop Park Series took placeat Astley Park, Chorley. In the senior 5K multi terrain race Chorley based James Kevan running for Horwich completely dominated from start to finish clocking a superb 16 mins 32 secs to finish well ahead of clubmate Gareth Booth (17:10). Chorley AC's leading runner male junior Luke Betts kept pace with Gareth Booth for most of the race but strength and age eventually told and he finished 3rd in 17:29. Dave Watson finished first vet home, the Preston Harrier clocking 18:28 ahead of vet 50 Mark Aspinall of Clayton. Clayton clubmate Anna Kelly (vet45) romped home well ahead of younger runners to complete the course in 21:03 and a clear 50 secs ahead of fast finishing Briony Curtis of Edinburgh club Hunters Bog Trotters. Chorley Harrier vet 45 Anna Maria Crabtree produced an excellent run to finish 3rd female home. In the junior 1 mile multi terrain Chorley AC's Fergus Tallon decimated the field to finish in 5:21 well ahead of Horwich junior Joseph Howe. Elizabeth Greenwood of Blackburn Harriers had to settle for third in the final race but still produced an excellent 5:48
