Senior Results

Chorley based Horwich Harrier James Kevan absolutely devasted the field to win in 16:46 mins - no mean feat given the toughness of this multi terrain event! The oldest and original Park Series has seen many top performances but this must rank as one of the best given he probably could have run faster given serious competition. Coming second and certainly no slouch was Rick Hayman, Sale Harriers in 17:21 with Ben Harrison, Morpeth Harriers just 2 seconds behind. Burnden Road Runner's vet 40 Isaline Hughes clocked 20:51 to take the first female title! Unattached Sarah Biddulph clocked 22:18 to take second spot with Jackie Taylor, FV40 from Blackburn Harriers clocking 23:24. Chorley Harriers Phil Iddon led home the Chorley runners, with Simon Townsend vet45, leading the organising club runners home. Current team positions see Horwich, Chorley Ac, Chorley Harriers and Blackburn Harriers close together- so the final race in the series on Friday 3 July will decide who takes the trophy.

Race #2 Friday 15th May 2009

5K Multi terrain - heavy under foot Results

The second of this year's Sweatshop Park Series races took place on Friday 15 May under threatening skies!

The senior 5k multi terrain race was won for the first time by Chorley based Horwich Harriers James Kevan. The international fell runner produced a scintillating performance to clock 16 mins 33 secs some 21 secs ahead of team mate Gary Priestley with Lee Cook of Tri Clan/Sweatshop third. Former series winner, Sale Harrier, Rick Hayman had to settle himself with a sub 18 mins finish on this very tough course. Ever improving Paul Bass from the host club finished in 20 mins 24 secs, followed closely by David Taylor, Simon Townsend (suffering with 'man flu') and Rick Cordwell. All were chased all the way by Chorley AC's first female Laura Livesey (3rd Female). Chorley AC's Dave Kershaw, Stephen Cole, Michael Murray, Steven Wilde, Phil McCullagh and Paul Cunliffe also contributed to a great turn out and performance by the host club.

Wesham's female vet 40, Joanna Goorney outpaced the other female runners to secure a very comfortable win in 21 mins 19 secs just 5 seconds ahead Burnden Road Runner Isaline Hughes, herself a vet 40. Horwich's vet 45 Paul Boardman secured first vet home slot in 19 mins 19secs.

The overall team places are changing every race with Horwich in the lead, and the two Chorley Clubs in hot pursuit.

1 mile Junior Park Series - wet and heavy underfoot Results

Chorley Ac's Luke Betts produced another very strong performance to run in a comfortable winner in 5 mins 28. Zac Howe, Horwich, was chased all the way by the Lancashire 800 metre champion Ryan Sciacca (Chorley AC) and just managed one last exertion to finish 2 secs ahead.
An outstanding run by Blackburn Harriers Beckie Taylor, dipping under 6 min for the first time in the series this year almost guarantees her the overall winner spot barring illness or injury. Team mate Elizabeth Greenwood clocked 6 mins 8 secs to finish way ahead of the chasing competitors.

Anya Townsend was first girl back for the host club, followed by team mates Sophie Clark, Ben Hughes, Anna Peers, Fraser Peers and Olivier Christoper (many running the event for the first time).
