Now in their eighth year the Lancashire Sports Awards were held in the Paradise Club at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Friday evening the 13th November.
Each of the 14 boroughs had representatives in all six categories who had fought off stiff competition in their local areas to be at the awards.
Eloise Manger of Chorley Athletic Club was nominated for the Special Recognition Award. Eloise, 24, was commended , and received a trophy, for her input into her sport. Even though she has a rigorous training schedule she finds time to be a positive role model to young people , volunteering at Chorley Wildcats and Chorley A.C.
A talented young javelin thrower , Eloise took a break from her sport to study at Leeds University and on resuming her training in 2008 has had to find all her own expenses as well as dealing with a lack of local training facilities. Despite this she is the current Northern Counties Champion , was runner up in the UK County Championships and is ranked 8th in the UK for 2009.
She is currently working hard with her winter training programme - her aim being to achieve the qualifying distance for next years Commonwealth Games."
