Lancashire Champion Eloise Manger of Chorley Athletic Club competed for her County at the 2009 UK Inter County Championships held at Bedford.

Eloise entered the javelin competition on behalf of Lancashire in eighth place in the UK rankings and was competing against three international athletes who were ranked above her.

On a sunny day and in good conditions her opening throw of 48.12 metres was a new personal best, by over two and a half metres, and secured her a silver medal.

This tremendous throw moved her up into fourth spot in the UK rankings and an invite to compete at the UK championships at Birmingham in July.



Coach Alan Morris said " Last year in the same competition Eloise came ninth out of nine with a throw of 34 metres compared to this years second place with 48.12 metres. Obviously this improvement is a deserved reward for her dedication she puts into her training sessions which has placed her so near to the elite of the UK lady javelin throwers. "
