Junior Men will run in the same race as the Senior Men and over the same distance. They will count towards the Senior Men's team but will score separately, just like vet categories.


29th October 2011 Towneley Park, Burnley

Results

28 Chorley AC wind swept runners particpated in the first Mid Lancs XC event in Burnley. The U11 boys team was lead home by Lewis Tiley(12), followed closely by Luke Hunter(17) and Scott Gouldthorpe(21). U11 girls Emily Hunter(46) and Elenor Lucas(63) seem to be getting stronger with every race. The U13s ran well with Megan Gouldthorpe taking 44th in the girls race, and brother Dominic Gouldthorpe with team mate Ben Green managed in 55 and 57th place in the boys race. The U15 mens team took 5th place, through strongs runs from Ryan(12) and Adam Sciacca(19), and Joe Ellison (26).

17 senior men finished the mens race taking 19th and 31st team place overall, and 5th and 8th team place in the V60 class. Junior Luke Betts was 15th overall, and 3rd junior. Mike Chalfont(72) ran strongly, to finish well in front of Paul Wareing(148) and Paul Clyne(162). The next group of David Taylor, Lee Roberts, Simon Townsend finished in 196, 201 and 204 respectively. First V60 was Henry Minorczyk(233), finishing just in front of Marco Sciacca(276), triple jumper Ian Gouldthorpe(295), Stephen Wilde(303), Barry Chester(306), John Minton(307), Phil McCullagh(309), Tom Hilton(325), Eddie Murray(326) and Mike Coppin(329).

The 2nd of the Mid Lancs. X-C event this year also doubled up as the International selection races and was held at Sefton Park, Liverpool. With the day forecast to be a gale threatened day, athletes found it windy, but warmer than predicted. The ever improving U11s started the day well with Ben Hughes(14th), Scott Gouldthorpe(18th), Luke Hunter(21st), Jack Hughes(26th), Emily Hunter(32nd) and Eleanor Lucas(39th) gaining 4th team position. Dominic Gouldthorpe and Ben Green ran hard for 50th & 51st places in the U13s as did Fergus Tallon(12th) in the U15s.

The U17s also secured 4th team place through Ryan Sciacca(10th), brother Adam(21st) and Joe Ellison(28th). Luke Betts ran in the junior men's race finishing 7th and 77th overall in the international selection.

The senior men had two teams finishing 21st &25th respectively with Paul Wareing (121st), Ian Walker (141st), Paul Clyne (143rd), Mick McGeown(161st), Simon Townsend(165th) and Lee Roberts(169th). Henry Minorczyk (194th) who was 6th vet60 and led home the veterans with Marco Sciacca(209th) and Barry Chester(227th) with Phil McCullagh, Eddie Murray, Tom Hilton & Mike Coppin filling places 236th to 239th.

Results

Given the attractions of 'Christmas shopping' the hosting clubs suffered further reductions from their teams with athletes officiating and marshaling the event. However, Chorley AC did remarkably well in the U11s with Ben Hughes finishing 5th pursued closely by Scott Gouldthorpe(16th), Lewis Tiley(19th), Luke Hunter(20th), Luke Bushell(26th), Jack Hughes(29th), Emily Hunter(30th) and Eleanor Lucas(46th) and overall were the 2nd team. In the U13s Ben Green(42nd) reversed recent results by beating Dominic Gouldthorpe(43rd). Fergus Tallon achieved 10th in the U15s with Ryan and Adam Sciacca(7th & 11th) in the U17s. Luke Betts had a superb run to finish 12th in the senior men being 2nd junior by 9 secs. Vet 40 Michael Chalfont was 58th with Paul Wareing(113th). Barry Chester had a good run in 214th tracked all the way by new boy Anthony Carter(216th) who battled his way around the course. Phil McCullagh headed the tail phalanx in 239th ahead of Vet 70 John Minton(244th) with Tom Hilton(253rd) just getting the better of Eddie Murray(254th) on the last lap. Chorley AC finished 21st team.

14th January 2012 Wilson Playing Fields, Hyndburn

Results

A tricky, wooded course in Hyndburn was tackled by over 30 Chorley runners in the latest Mid Lancs Cross Country event.

U11 girls Caitlin McCarrick and Emily Hunter were first up, coming back in 32nd and 40th position respectively. Ben Hughes has a great run to come back in 6th place, supported by Lewis Tiley, Scott Gouldthorpe, Luke Hunter and Jack Huges.

Lynn Clough(23:30) had a great run achieve 7th place lady, Nicki Ruston(27:36), Anna-Marie Crabtree(28:45), Vicky Burton(30:35), Alison Fowler(32:52) and Shelley Parkinson(36:55) . Chorley ladies took 9th and 21st team places..

Again, Luke Betts(34:15) had a great run to finish 16th (and 4th U20) in a field of 290. Next back was Michael Chalfont(39:21) closely followed by Mark Ellithorn(39:56). Phil Iddon(44:04), Simon Townsend(45:52) and Henry Minorczyk(48:14) all easily broke 50 minutes, followed by Barry Chester(51:34), Paul Jackson(52:27), Phil McCullagh(60:45), John Swift(66:33), Tom Hilton(69:47), and Mike Coppin(74:53)

11th February 2012 Thorncliffe, Barrow in Furness

Results

Only two juniors made the journey but with good results as Scott Gouldthorpe was 9th in the U11s and Emma Plant an even better 4th in the U15s. Anna-Maria Crabtree(25th) and Shelley Parkinson(41st) flew the Chorley flag in the ladies race whilst the men also could not make a full team with Paul Wareing(71st) having an excellent run followed by Ian Crabtree(93rd), Henry Minorczyk(117th) and Phil McCullagh(132nd). Mike Coppin(142nd) was pleased to catch Eddie Murray(143rd) on the last lap. The men were 14th vet40, 13th vet50 & 3rd vet60 teams. The best individual positions were Emma Plant's 4th with Henry being 6th Vet60.
