Final Results
The XC season is now complete and a review of the Mid Lancs overall results pictures a good return by Chorley AC athletes particularly in the U11s with Luke Hunter(14th) and sister Emily & Ben Green(both 20th). These three together with the Gouldthorpes Scott, Dominic and Meghan were the 5th team in the SE Lancs league which also had Fergus Tallon in 4th place just missing a medal. In the Mid Lancs the overall CAC stars though were the U17 team which was just beaten by 1 point to second place being lead by Luke Betts, who individually came second in the series, ably backed by Adam & Ryan Sciacca(8th & 11th) and Bolu Olufon(12th). Joe Ellison also supported well but did not complete enough races in either league to qualify in the overall results. The seniors fronted by Paul Wareing(53rd) with Dave Taylor(75th), Simon Townsend(78th) and Paul Clyne(99th) did an exceptional job particularly in the last two events to secure 11th team place thus avoiding relegation with the supporting 'B' team ending 10th in their league. The vet40s were the 13th team and unfortunately will be relegated by a whisker after a good fight, with the vet50s including Ian Walker(85th) and Phil McCullagh(119th) holding 11th team place. The vet60s of Henry Minorczyk(102nd), Barry Chester(117th) and Mike Coppin(123rd) were the most consistent and ended up as 2nd team just edged out by the large Club of Clayton-le-Moors.

The final XC race of the season was a Mid Lancs event at the new venue of Beacon Park, Skelmersdale which had a good Chorley AC attendance with the U17s ending their season as they wished with 1st team place and Luke Betts(2nd), Ryan Sciacca(9th) just pipping brother Adam(10th) followed quickly by Joe Ellison(12th) and Bolu Olufon(15th). The U11s took the 3rd team spot with Emily Hunter(25th) chased by Meghan Gouldthorpe(27th) but Luke Hunter had escaped to 19th place with good packing from Dominic & Scott Gouldthorpe(22nd & 23rd) with Ben Green(34th). The seniors did ok with 13th & 18th team places overall keeping to their normal finishing formation with Paul Wareing(95th), Dave Taylor(101st), Simon Townsend(106th) and Ian Walker(123rd). In 128th place Henry Minorczyk was the 3rd overall vet 60 home leading CAC's vet60 teams to 2nd & 4th places. Paul Clyne again found the course hard but made it in 132nd before a real flurry of Chorley runners beginning with Phil McCullagh(173rd), John Minton(174th), Les Paul(177th) a good run, Tom Hilton(178th) cruelly catching Adrian Smith(179th) just before the line, then Mike Coppin(181st).

Race Map (senior) - 9.56km, flat
It was a suprisingly delightful afternoon as The Chorley Ac team arrived in full strength to the Blackpool Midlancs cross country to conquer a extremely muddy but flat course. The day began with the under 11s with an impressive turn out for the girls, some their first races as Emily hunter lead in 35th followed by Megan Gouldthorpe in 38th and an impressive first race for Chloe Doherty in 41st.
The under 11 boys also didn't dissapoint as Dominic Gouldthorpe lead the way in 25th just edging out Luke hunter in 26th by two seconds, it was also an encouraging run for Ben Green in 33rd. The under 15s saw Anya Townsend complete in 33rd and brilliant first race for Kate Green in 37th. Only one Chorley athlete represented the under 15 boys with Fergus Tallon doing the club proud with 8th place especially considering he has another year in that age group. A strong under 17s team all ran superbly finishing second team on the day, Luke Betts leading the way in 4th place, narrowly missing out on 3rd in a dramatic sprint finish but is currently 2nd in the overall series with one race to go, he was backed by Adam Sciacca who was all for hanging his spikes up a week ago but his determination shone through as he ran an encouraging race in 9th, followed by his brother Ryan Sciacca who had injury troubles but still finished in 13th. Bolu Olufon ran another controlled run, helping the team pull through in 14th.
It was a good turnout for Chorley AC's seniors as without any doubt Paul Wareing lead in 84th, Mike Chalfont following just behind in 87th. Paul Clyne ran well in 96th along with Jim Cosgrove in 102nd. Runners also included Ian Walker (117th) Simon Townsend (127) Henry Minorczyk (131), Barry Chester (157), Phil McCullagh, LKes Paul, John Minton, Adrian Smith and Mike Coppin i.e. 2 senior teams.

Burnley - Saturday 22nd January 2011
Results
Burnley hosted the fourth Mid Lancs Cross Country which attracted twenty Chorley Athletic Club members. No mud, no rain, no snow and no hills obviously suited U17 Luke Betts who finished 2nd in his race, and with team mates Joe Ellison and Bolo Olufon achieved 3rd team place. His brother Daniel Betts was 30th in the U15s race, behind teammate Fergus Tallon in 7th. Just before, Emily Hunter also got 30th in the U11 girls race, and the U11 boys team of Luke Hunter, Scott Gouldthorpe and Ben Green achieved positions 31, 32 and 34 respectively.
240 athletes packed the senior race, with V45 Paul Wareing having yet another superb race achieving 82nd position. New member, Mick Chalfont, was close behind in 89th position, followed by David Taylor, Simon Townsend, Ian Walker and Stuart Tunney (running his first ever cross country) in positions 123, 131, 158 and 170. V60s Henry Minorczyk and Barry Chester were next to finish, followed by Phil McCullagh and Eddie Murray. The Vet 60 team came an excellent 3rd, and the seniors team came a creditable 20th overall.

A good Chorley AC turnout was the order of the day for the Mid-Lancs. X-C on a muddy Witton Park, Blackburn with the U11s giving the club a good start with excellent runs from Luke & Emily Hunter, Scott & Dominic Gouldthorpe and Ben Green in his first race setting off fast then steadying before a good finish. Anya Townsend was strong throughout supporting Fergus Tallon and Danny Betts in the U15s. Luke Betts was disappointed in his 9th place in the U17s but Joe Ellison had a stormer ahead of Adam & Ryan Sciacca with Ben Ramsay and Bolo Olufon close behind giving them great 4th & 6th team positions. In a massive senior men's field Paul Wareing came out in front of David Taylor with Ian Walker squeezing passed the two vets Dave Kershaw and Simon Townsend. Barry Chester, currently running well, had Henry Minorczyk in his sights and duly got passed him ahead of Paul Clyne who is finding his first efforts at this discipline very hard but is sticking in well. John Minton made a wonderful return after his long spell out seeing off Phil McCullagh, Eddie Murray, Steven Wilde, Tom Hilton & Mike Coppin. Chorley AC finished 25th & 29th teams with the vets 21st & 26th and the vet60s 4th & 7th. After Luke's 9th individual position the next best were Barry Chester and Henry Minorczyk as 10th & 11th vet60s.
