Fergus Tallon was 5th in the U13s, only 30 secs down on the winner, but unfortunately not running at his best.
The U15s produced an excellent team performance after an injury hit year with Ryan Sciacca (8th) sneaking a 1 sec win over brother Adam (9th) followed by Joe Ellison(17th) and Ben Ramsay(19th) who had an amazing run with only one shoe.
Luke Betts then produced a pleasing and assured run in the U17s for 2nd place.
In the seniors Paul Wareing was 80th, avoiding being caught by a close finishing Dave Taylor(84th). Henry Minorczyk Vet 60 was 123rd overall (and 6th vet60) followed by Marco Sciacca(138th) who just got the better of Jonathan Betts(141st). Phil McCullagh continues to improve up the results finishing 152nd ahead of Mike Coppin(159th).
The U15s got back to winning ways being 2nd team securing 3rd team overall for the season.
In the seniors Chorley AC finished 5th overall, with the vet40 team coming home 15th but securing overall 2nd place, the vet50s were 15th gaining them 10th overall with the vet60s already assured of 3rd.
Saturday 13th February, Hyndburn
Results
The penultimate Mid-Lancs race was at Hyndburn in near perfect conditions for cross-country running but with Chorley AC senior runners
reduced to the bare minimum of 6 because of a fixtures clash with the others being at SE Lancs event at Leigh. Paul Wareing was a
delighted 92nd breaking his bogey time of 40 mins for the first time with 39:15. Next was Henry Minorczyk in 150th being 6th vet60
followed by Barry Chester in 163rd. Simon Townsend(192nd) pulled a hamstring and was reduced to walking being just pipped by Phil
McCullagh in 191st but still beating Mike Coppin in 194th. Simon's heroic walk to the finish was immensely important to give CAC a
team place(19th) which still keeps Chorley in overall 4th place in the league. With the Vet40s team in 17th place, the Vet50s in 12th
and the vet60s 3rd Chorley moves to 2nd Vet40 position overall whilst consolidating at 10th vet50s and 3rd vet60s.
Saturday 16th January, Blackpool
Results
After the deep snow for last week's Cross Country, Lawson's Ground in Blackpool was not as bad as feared for the latest Mid-Lancs. cross-country encounter.
Chorley AC's U15 group continued their challenge for silverware being the second team to Liverpool with Adam Sciacca in what seems to be his favourite position of 9th, brother Ryan 17th, Joe Ellison 22nd and Ben Ramsay 30th on a course far too flat for their strengths.
Luke Betts in 7th was not at his fluent best but is maintaining his push for series honours.
In a large senior field!, Simon Townsend was the first AC runner home in 113th followed by another fine run from Dave Kershaw in 136th. Ian Walker 159th had been leading his fellow club mate Dave Taylor 155th but succumbed under late final pressure with Rick Cordwell charging in between at 156th just 2 secs in arrears.
Henry Minorczyk 166th continued his V60 challenge with his 9th individual place followed by Barry Chester 181st who came alive with a late charge. John Swift was next in 199th with Eddie Murray 204th, Phil McCullagh 206th and Mike Coppin 207th.
CAC were 23rd team overall with two vet40 teams at 22nd & 27th and two vet50 teams at 10th & 16th with the vet60 team coming 3rd. In the series todate the U15 team, the seniors and the vet60 team are all still 3rd with the vet40 team 2nd.
Saturday 19th December, Burnley
Results
The Mid-Lancs Burnley XC at Townley Park saw a reduced contingent of Chorley AC athletes on this very snow bound course.
Disaster struck right at the beginning when previous winner Fergus Tallon twisted his knee when warming up for his U13 race which he then had to forego. Joe Ellison(18th) and Ben Ramsay(28th) stuck grittily to their task in the U15 one lap race. Luke Betts was not feeling well with a cold yet managed to bag 9th place in his U17s race to put series points in the bank.
In the seniors Simon Townsend(109th) again led the team home and just managed to hold off a late surge from Paul Wareing(110th). David Taylor was next in at 142nd but was again under pressure from Ian Walker(149th) and Henry Minorczyk(153rd). Barry Chester was 178th with John Swift(190th) and Phil McCullagh's(197th) multi race strategy beginning to pay dividends in increased fitness whence he ran away from Mike Coppin(203rd) who was left on a lonely trot round. From a huge field Chorley were 21st team overall, 19th & 24th vet40 teams, 13th vet50 team and 3rd vet60 team. Henry had the best individual position of 6th vet60.
Saturday 28th November, Liverpool
Results
In spite of the recent wet weather this course has seen muddier times except for the 200yd finishing straight which was like glue. Paul Wareing led the valiant CAc team home in an excellent 144th place followed by Rick Cordwell in 179th who astutely overtook and passed Henry Minorczyk in 181st. Barry Chester was next in 203rd with John Swift in 211th.
Eddie Murray (214th) was another who cheekily used the muddy finish to pass Phil McCullagh (215th) by 3 secs, leaving Mike Coppin the last Chorley finisher in 219th. The Chorley team finished 23rd overall, the vet40s 19th, the vet50s 9th & 12th with the vet60s 3rd. Individually John Swift was 2nd vet70 and Henry 6th vet60.
Saturday 10th October, Kendal

Chorley's main team was 17th, the vets were 16th and the vet50s 12th. Henry was 4th vet60.
