Saturday 27th August 2011 at Wigan

Four Chorley AC athletes braved the summer rain to compete in the Mid Lancs Track and Field Medal Meeting in Wigan. U17 Ryan Sciacca took a Gold medal in 400m, followed by a Silver and Bronze in 100m and 200m respectively. Luke Betts won the 800m in a time of 1:56.6 which was very close to his PB (in very poor conditions), and then went on to take 6th place in the 200m (which he was trying for the first time). Bolu Olufon took a Silver in the 100m and just missed a medal with 4th place in the 200m. Again, U17 Anya Townsend won the Javelin (Gold medal), and took 5th place in the Discus.

A small Chorley AC team participated in the 5th Mid Lancs Track and Field meeting in Preston. Bolu Olufon got two 4th places in 100m (without blocks) and Long Jump. U15 Ryan and Adam Sciacca raced home to 1st and 3rd place in the 800m, followed closely by Joe Ellison in 4th. Adam also achieved a PB in the long jump and took 3rd place. Long distance specialist Furgus Tallon gained 3rd place in a 200m race! U17 Anya Townsend took maximum points in Javellin and Discus, with below par throws which still gained her 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Witton Park, Blackburn laid on a good day for the latest Mid-Lancs track & field meeting where the Chorley AC men were in 6th place with the seniors of Bolu Olufon(1st in 100m & 3rd in the 200m) and Rick Cordwell(2nd in the 100m & 8th in the shot) being 3rd overall averaged by the U15s & 17s in 5th place with Ryan Sciacca, Adam Sciacca & Fergus Tallon all 3rd in the 400m, 1500m & 800m respectively. The U17 girls of Jodie Farnworth(1st in the high jump) and Francesca Jackson taking on the long jump & triple jump were 4th but without other age group support the ladies were 7th overall.

Saturday 25th June 2011 at Hyndburn

The 3rd Mid Lancs Track and Field meeting in Hyndburn was a very wet affair, but Chorley AC competitor performances were not dampened. Sprinters Rick Cordwell and Bolu Olufon ran well to take 1st and 4th places in their respective 100m, and 4th and 2nd in the 200m heats. U17 brothers Ryan and Adam Sciacca, with team mate Joe Ellison tackled the elongated sprints of 400 and 800m. Ryan won both his races convincingly in fast times of 53.9 and 2:04.6, but both Joe and Adam were not far behind. U15 Dan Betts competed in his first Mid Lancs event this year, with gutsy runs in the 400m and 800m. U17 field event specialists Francesca Jackson and Anya Townsend were also in action, and scored near maximum points. Fran took 7th and 8th places in Long Jump and Triple Jump, and Anya threw her way to 3rd and 2nd places in Discus and Javelin respectively.

A slightly depleted Chorley AC team competed in round 2 of the Mid Lancs Track and Field series in a cold and windy Lancaster. The lack of numbers was made up by great quality, exemplified by many great results and PBs.
New sprinting protégé Bolu Olufon won his 200m race and came 7th in the 100m. V50 John Wright ran well to take 6th and 4th in the 100m and 200m respectively. Rick Cordwell took a 3rd in his 200m race and 4th in Triple Jump. Adam Sciacca won his first long jump, as well as taking 7th in the 800m, closely followed by Joe Ellison in 8th. Adam’s brother Ryan took 2nd in the 400m and 800m. U13 Ben Green missed his favoured 100m, so bravely ran the longer 200m taking 8th. He also jumped well in the high and long jumps with 17th and 9th places earned.
For the girls, 15 year old Anya Townsend beat all senior and U17s to win the Javelin with a seasons best throw over 21m, and took 4th in Discus. U17 Francesca Jackson took maximum divisional points in Long and Triple Jumps, with 4th and 3rd respectively. U15 Devon Berry jumped very well to take 5th in her first high jump event.
The men's team was 6th and the women's team 4th within their division.

Sunny but very windy conditions met 13 Chorley AC athletes at the first Mid Lancs Track and Field competition in Blackpool.

Performances of the day, Luke Betts and Ryan Sciacca took 1st places and maximum points in the 800 and 400 metres respectively, plus 3rd places in the 400 and 800m respectively. Also on the track were Rick Cordwell (9th 100m, 6th 200m, 5th Long Jump), Stephen Malley(12th 100m), Bolu Olufon(10th 400m), Adam Sciacca(3rd 1500m) and Fergus Tallon(5th 800m). Field eventers included Ian Gouldthorpe(2nd Triple Jump, 4th Long Jump) and his son U11 Dominic Gouldthorpe(14th Long Jump).

Up for the girls was Jodie Farnworth(2nd High Jump), Harriet Tallon(2nd Discus), Francesca Jackson(6th Triple Jump) and Anya Townsend(8th 800m, 4th Discus).

The men managed an excellent 4th team place and the women were 5th team in their division.
