The Lancashire Cross-Country Championships at Witton Park, Blackburn were graced with a minutes in memory of former Chorley AC elite runners Ken Moss who had represented Lancashire many times. His son Alex, born in Chorley, ran in his memory(managing 66th place !) watched by Ken's wife Anne and sister Jen. Ironically the conditions were just what Ken himself would have liked i.e. 'difficult' for the several inches of snow made running interminably hard like being on soft sand and the runners had to work furiously all the time with the consequence that all were pretty exhausted by the end with slow times. The conditions were extremely 'picturesque' and apart from a couple of hard patches of block ice the biggest danger was snow blindness! Chorley AC also did not disappoint in Ken's memorial race by achieving two county selections from Fergus Tallon who was 2nd in the U13s race and Luke Betts who was 4th in the U17s. A couple of senior medal winners to go with Fergus's silver medal as Henry Minorczyk and Barry Chester won silver and bronze respectively in the vet60s. The U15 squad tried oh so hard with Adam Sciacca in 9th just missing county selection by one place supported by Ryan Sciacca 18th who is not yet fully recovered from injury with Joe Ellison 20th and Ben Ramsay 26th, however their efforts secured them the 2nd Lancashire team place eclipsing the seniors who did well to be 8th. The seniors were led home by Simon Townsend 67th pushed all the way by Dave Kershaw 71st in a remarkable come back race with Paul Wareing a whisker away in 74th. The veteran medal winners Henry and Barry came next in 81st and 88th places with Phil McCullagh 93rd and the proceedings rounded up by Mike Coppin in 94th and the 4th vet65. Chorley AC were also the 5th Lancashire veteran team.

PS Thanks to Henry for ferrying most of the senior team in his 4x4.
