Primary League Information
All the matches will take place at the Robin Park Arena starting at 6.30pm and the dates for these are as follows: Match 1 - Friday 25th May 2007
Match 2 - Friday 22nd June 2007
Match 3 - Friday 20th July 2007
MEDAL MEETING - Friday 17th or 24th August 2007 (Date to be confirmed)
There are three teams involved in the Primary League, these being Chorley Athletic Club, Horwich Harriers and Wigan Harriers. This season there are two age groups that points will be awarded for - school years 2, 3 and 4 are combined into one age group and school years 5 and 6 form the other age group. We are trying to encourage lots of people to take part, but if the year 6 athletes are already competing for their clubs on a regular basis in Mid Lancs or Young Athlete's leagues, then this is a chance for the other Primary Group athletes to compete! The events are different for each match, with an emphasis to encourage youngsters to try out the field events (because we know that they all like to run anyway!). The events on offer at each match are as follows:
Match 1
- 75 Metres (Both Age Groups)
- Long Jump (Y2/Y3/Y4)
- High Jump (Y5/Y6)
- Shot (Y2/Y3/Y4)
- Javelin (Y5/Y6)
- 4 x 100 Metres Relay (Both Age Groups)
Match 2
- 150 Metres (Both Age Groups)
- Long Jump (Y5/Y6)
- High Jump (Y2/Y3/Y4)
- Shot (Y5/Y6)
- Javelin (Y2/Y3/Y4)
- 4 x 100 Metres Relay (Both Age Groups)
Match 3
- 600 Metres (Both Age Groups)
- Long Jump (Both Age Groups)
- Shot (Both Age Groups)
- 4 x 100 Metres Relay (Both Age Groups)
At the Medal Meeting in August all events will be on offer, but there will be no relays that evening. To qualify for the Medal Meeting an athlete must have competed in at least one of the league fixtures, and an athlete will only be allowed to compete in three events at the Medal Meeting (2 track and 1 field or 1 track and 2 field).
