The usually popular Ashurst Beacon(5) fell race at Newburgh only attracted 2 Chorley athletes this year due to race clashes with Graham Schoffield(86th) and Marie Dewhurst(131st) being 3rd & 5th respectively in their age categories.

A keen group of 8 Chorley AC U11 athletes went to Blackpool for a Sportshall competition containing 11 different disciplines in which Ben Hughes starred being 4th at 3 laps, 3rd in both javelin & triple jump and 11th in the vertical jump and consequently has been selected for the divisional finals in Manchester. Teddy Henry, Harrison Denver(8th in the chest push), Alex Lucas, Jack Hughes, Scott Gouldthorpe(9th in the speed bounce), Emily Hunter & Eleanor Lucas all supported well with good performances each.

Red Rose XC League. The following should present themselves at the RMI Club, Horwich on Sat. 4th Feb at 20:00 to be presented with their awards - Fergus Tallon(3rd), Ryan Sciacca(5th), Adam Sciacca & Joe Ellison(2nd team), Henry Minorczyk(2nd), Mike Coppin(2nd) & John Minton(1st) plus all supporters who wish to attend. In the Auld Lang Syne race on New Years eve from Haworth Dominic Raby had a fantastic race to finish 20th(47:15) and only had internationally named runners in front of him ; this was a dramatic 10 place improvement for him from last year.

'The last race of 2011 the Auld Lang Syne(6 fell race from Howarth had a capacity field with a few Chorley athletes finishing to gain their specially brewed bottles of beer. First in was the busy Darren Fishwick(64th) followed by Lynne Clough(106th) as 3rd FV40 then perpetual racer Paul Jackson(109th), Hassan Khattab(114th), Nicola Raby(215th), Graham Schoffield(228th), Nicki Rushton(231st), Marie Dewhurst(312th), Tom Hilton(385th) and finally Janet Chaplin(388th) taking a break from her tea room.
