This year Great Hill Fell race, now in its 41st year was run in uncharacteristically warm conditions. The race over 5.75 miles with more than 1300 feet of climb was dominated by Bolton United Harrier Marc Tillotson who clocked an excellent 36 mins 08 secs almost 1 minute ahead of nearest rival Duncan Anderson of Tri Preston (37:07) with the ever youthful vet 40 Paul Guinan of Blackburn Harriers in hot pursuit.
Vet 45 Ed Gamble of Cheshire Hill Racers produced an excellent run to be in the top 4.
John Sutton of Blackburn Harriers produced a sparkling finish to claim 5th spot in 38:39.
Michael Chalfont Vet 40 of organising club Chorley AC had bragging rights as first Chorley based runner home in 41:06.
Remarkably Chorley AC junior male running for the first time in this race, Fergus Tallon clocked a superb performance to finish 15th overall in 41:17.
Burnden Road Runner Keith Thomas took the over 50's prize (39:34) with Billy Hargreaves of Penny Lane Striders finishing in 50:09 to secure the vet 60+ category.
Producing an outstanding performance for Chorley Harriers was vet 40 Lynne Clough who secured first spot in 42:36. Someway behind in second place was Briony Curtis of Hunters Bog Trotters (46:40) and Clayton Le Moors vet 45 Anna Kelly finishing strongly in 46:46.
Burnden Road Runner's Anne Ferguson produced a class run to secure the vet 50 spot in 47:16.
Team honours went to the trio of Paul Guinan, John Sutton and Mark Almond from Blackburn Harriers who took first team place.
A strong contingent from the Southport and Waterloo club gained their just rewards when Rob Ashworth, Steve McClean and Neil Adshead took first veteran team prize!
