Chorley Athletic Club's AGM and awards presentation evening for 2009 were held at St.Peters Club, Eaves Lane, Chorley. In his address the Chairman, International John Payn highlighted how extremely well the club does over the athletic spectrum and continue to operate at some of the highest levels. There are current world medal winners in John Payn(walking), John Wright(100/200 meters) and parlympian athletes Graeme Ballard and Michael Churm(100/200 meters). Eloise Manger is North of England champion ranked 4th in the UK and closing in on international selection. We have 5 county champions in Luke Betts, Jodie Farnworth, Eloise Manger & Ryan Sciacca(all T&F) and Henry Minorczyk(XC). Additionally two athletes awarded county vests were Fergus Tallon & Adam Sciacca in XC. Even in the long distance fells we have 2 Joss Naylor holders. Overall it was a highly successful year for our juniors and perhaps just a 'consolidation' year for the seniors, but all took part in events with a good team spirit :-
XC - Fergus Tallon, Luke Betts, Adam Sciacca, Henry Minorczyk & Mike Coppin gained individual league awards plus teams Vet40 & 60 awards.
T&F - A consolidation year, but with better things to come.
Fell, Trail & Road -some very good competitive results.
Awards went to :-
Dave Kershaw & Paul Bass for Fells.
Jeanette Murray, Michael Murray's Snr & Jnr, Marco Sciacca and Rick Cordwell for Road.
Coaches Francis Crook, John Payn, Alan Morris, Stuart Swann, John Wright & Simon Townsend received bottles for their efforts.
A novelty award for the most Club miles run was won by Phil McCullagh.
Ben Ramsay, Joe Ellison and Paul Wareing for XC with twins Ryan & Adam Sciacca winning awards for both T&F & XC. T&F awards went to Ben Whipp, Ben Knight, Michael Hough, Graeme Ballard, John Wright & Jodie Farnworth.
