Chorley Athletic Club competed in the North of England Track and Field League Meeting at the Hyndburn Track last Sunday.
In the short 100m sprint U17 Simon Sumner in the A Race and Graeme Ballard in the B Race both recorded 4th places in 12.1s and 12.7s respectively
and guest runner Michael Churm was 5th in 12.8s. The longer 200m sprint A Race Simon Sumner had a great run to cross the line in 3rd place with a
new personal best of 24.4s and in the B Race Michael Churm ran well for 2nd place in 25.4s just ahead of guest runner Graeme Ballard in 3rd with 25.5s.
Middle distance events saw U17 Andres Holmes and Chris Churm in the 800m with Andrew finishing 6th in the A event with 2.14.5 and Chris 4th in the
B event in 2.30.1. Andrew later competed in the 1500m with an excellent 4th place in 4.48.6.
The Club's 4 x 100m relay squad of Graeme Ballard/Michael Churm/Simon Sumner/Andrew Holmes got the baton round for 5th place.
5 Club Officials once again turned out to gain maximum points.
U17 Andrew Holmes has been offered a priority place on the NW Endurance Weekend in September together with his Coach Stuart Swann.
Saturday 12th August is the last of the Mid Lancs Meetings at the Hyndburn Track with the Medal Meeting to be held at Blackpool on the
26th August.
